Front Porch Spring Makeover

Last weekend, the clocks sprung forward and the sun started shining.  The beautiful weather inspired me to get outside and makeover the front porch!

I love dressing up our double front doors with coordinating wreaths.  Finding nice wreaths in stores can be challenging and expensive.  Making your own is such a fun project and when you are all finished, it is bound to be something you are proud to show off.

While matching wreaths can be very pretty, I decided to arrange mine differently.  I still used the same flowers for both, so they coordinate with each other.

I headed over to the craft store and started by picking out the base for my wreath.  A nice medium size for the front door is 18".  There are a few different styles to choose from:  styrofoam, metal or grapevine.  For my spring wreaths, I decided to go with the grapevine wreath.

Next, I picked out my flowers.  For these wreaths, I wanted to use a variety of sizes and springy colors that compliment one another.  Also, take into consideration the color of your house and of the front doors.  Our front doors are a peach/yellow color, so I put together a mix of yellow, light pink, coral and white.  I added a pop of bright green with an artificial stem made to look like a succulent.

Cut apart the artificial stems as needed so you end up with as many individual pieces as you want.  Arrange them on the wreath, mixing up the different flowers and spreading the greenery around evenly.  When using the grapevine wreath, I like to leave some of that pretty form showing.

Now the doors are looking bight and welcoming!  The next step to this front porch makeover?  Some real flowers.

I paid a visit to my neighborhood nursery and picked up some flowers (in colors that would compliment my pretty new wreaths).  I chose to fill my container with daffodils, lavender, mums, ranunculus, primroses and some trailing succulents.

There you have it!  Spring makeover success!
